“Fuck You” Says Billboard Editor – Print Is Not Dead
Don't tell Billboard editorial director Bill Werde that print is dead... It's, err, not Bill. Promise.
After Billboard closed its London operation, one disgruntled employee, former London bureau chief Emmanuel Legrand, wrote on his blog that the magazine is dying. Reportedly, the two had crossed paths at the MIDEM.
Werde "confronted Legrand, calling him a pathetic loser and adding that he 'pissed off' special features editor Thom Duffy and senior correspondent Ed Christman," wrote the New York Post, who exchanged e-mails with Legrand.
It gets better. Not this kind. Legrand claimed in the e-mail that, "Werde raised the middle finger of his right hand and said, '[Bleep] you from Thom,' and raised the middle finger of his left hand and said, '[Bleep] you from Ed.'" The Post continues. "He then raised both middle fingers and said, '[Bleep] you from Billboard.'
Commenting on this whole ordeal, a Billboard rep told the Post, "While it is true Emmanuel's blog post about Billboard was riddled with factual inaccuracies and perhaps worthy of a pointed re action, Bill only wishes Mr. Legrand the best in his search for employment, more than three years after leaving Billboard."
"I see you running your mouth...
About the publication I run and I'm like,
'Fuck you!' from Thom... 'Fuck you!' you from ED...
Oo, oo, ooo. And a 'Fuck you!' from Billboard too."
