Breaking: Black Eyed Peas Hijack MySpace
OK, this isn't exactly breaking news, but it is about someone trying to fix something broken. As part of its makeover, MySpace debuted "Hijacks" today with the Black Eyed Peas "taking control" of the site for three days. (Click on image on left to enlarge.) Next, Jack Black will hijack the site on December 15th. Put in breathless PR terms: "Hijacks is one of many content-focused initiatives supporting Myspace’s mission to provide the best social entertainment experience possible for the Gen Y audience."
The Black Eyed Peas will share how they "envision" Myspace, "transforming" it into the same augmented reality that "inspired" their latest album, The Beginning. Key areas of the site have been "flipped" into an 8-bit version in the style of retro video games. Jack Black will ‘Hijack’ Myspace using the theme of his upcoming film Gulliver’s Travels focusing on all things "giant". Perhaps he'll include "giant" social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
