Christmas Comes Early! Lady Gaga, Usher & Justin Timberlake Promise To Stop Tweeting This Tues.
Alicia Keys and her friends, such as Lady Gaga, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Seacrest and even (gasp!) Kim and Khloe Kardashian, have all promised to stop tweeting and updating their Facebook pages this Wednesday. And while it's all for a great cause - Tuesday is World AIDS Day and the campaign is called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Keys' charity, Keep a Child Alive - the planet also gets the added benefit of a lot less pointless chatter.
Of course, no campaign can stop fans from tweeting and Facebooking endlessly about these celebrities and they will still use their social networking communities to raise much needed cash. The foundation will accept donations through text messages with funds raised going to support families affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India.
"It's really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on," gushed Keys to the AP. "It's so important to shock you to the point of waking up. It's not that people don't care or it's not that people don't want to do something, it's that they never thought of it quite like that."
